A Mother’s Day Wish: Finding Peace in a 60-Second Micro-Rest

Have you ever noticed how the quietest moments are often the most powerful?

As caregivers, we often feel like we are running a marathon that has no finish line. This Mother’s Day, my wish for you isn't just for a beautiful bouquet or a nice meal, though you deserve both.

My wish is for you to find the "micro-rest": a single minute of profound, holy stillness.

The Gift of a Holy Pause

We often think we need a full week at the beach to recharge our weary souls. While that sounds lovely, God often meets us in the tiny, sixty-second gaps of our busy days.

A micro-rest is not about checking out or ignoring your responsibilities. It is about checking in with the Holy Spirit and allowing His peace to settle over you like a warm blanket.

In the middle of the caregiving cycle: the medicine, the appointments, and the heavy lifting: God is waiting in the pauses. He is there in the deep breath you take before walking into your mother's room.

Honoring the Calling

Scripture reminds us of the high calling of motherhood and the honor found in care. Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."

Being blessed does not mean our days are easy or that every choice we make is the right one. It means we are held by the One who created us, even when we feel we have nothing left to give.

When we take sixty seconds to simply be in His presence, we honor the life He has given us. We acknowledge that while we are doing the work, He is the one providing the strength.

Pause & Notice

Take sixty seconds right now.

Close your eyes and breathe in the grace that is available to you in this very second. Notice the weight of God’s love surrounding you, requiring nothing from you other than your presence.

Happy Mother’s Day to those of you mothering your own parents. You are seen, you are loved, and you are deeply blessed.
